Membership Process

STEP 1: EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

The Head of State (HoS), Head of Government (HoG), Minister of Finance, or Minister of Foreign Affairs may initiate the membership process by submitting a formal letter of interest to join the CVF-V20. Countries are also welcome to attend CVF-V20 sessions as observers prior to submitting their application.

To formally express interest, the official letter should be sent via e-mail to [email protected], addressed to the CVF Chair, with the relevant parties copied based on the sender.

*Please note that the official letter needs to have the official letterhead of the Government and signed by the Head of State/Head of Government.

STEP 2: NON-OBJECTION

The formal membership request will be reviewed and confirmed through a non-objection procedure during a Senior Officials Meeting.

STEP 3: FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Upon confirmation of membership, the HoS or HoG will be officially welcomed as a new CVF-V20 member at one of the following forums:

  • CVF Leaders Meeting, typically held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (September)
  • V20 Ministerial Dialogue, held on the sidelines of the Spring (April) or Annual (October) Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund

While awaiting their official welcome, representatives of the incoming member country are encouraged to participate in all CVF-V20 meetings and events.
