The V20 Sustainable Insurance Facility (V20-SIF) is a project pipeline facility created to support the development and availability of climate-smart insurance solutions for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in climate-vulnerable nations. Recognizing that MSMEs form the backbone of many developing economies yet often lack access to financial protection against climate risks, the SIF aims to close this gap by promoting inclusive and sustainable insurance mechanisms.

Operating under the United Nations Environment Program FInance Initiative’s (UNEP FI) Principles for Sustainable Insurance, the V20-SIF works in close collaboration with the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII) to provide technical assistance, capacity building, and facilitate partnerships between governments, insurers, and development finance institutions to foster scalable and context-specific insurance solutions.
