V20 LOSS AND DAMAGE
FUNDING PROGRAM

The V20 Loss and Damage Funding Program is designed to deliver rapid, direct support to communities in V20 member states through small grants. Its goal is to ensure that resources reach those most affected by climate-induced loss and damage without delay or excessive bureaucracy.

PHASE 1

The first phase, supported by the Open Society Foundations and implemented with the assistance of CARE International, facilitated projects in Kenya, Malawi, and Bangladesh. With a total allocation of USD 565,000, the phase reached 40,468 individuals across the three countries.

PHASE 2

The second phase, backed by the Government of Wallonia, has been approved by the Board of the CVF-V20 Joint Multi-Donor Fund. This phase consists of two components: project implementation in the Pacific region and Ghana. Execution will begin following the finalization of financing agreements.

PHASE 3

The third phase is slated to host a minimum of 50 adaptation projects across CVF-V20 member states. Concurrently, a V20 Funding Program Committee will be established to oversee the utilization of $5.35 million in funding support from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF).
