While not all are affected equally, this tragic event is a reminder that in the climate emergency no-one is safe, whether they live on a small island nation like mine or a developed Western European state. As the world approaches 1.5 degrees of global heating, events in Germany are a sad reminder that the price for inaction on climate change will be paid in human lives lost across the globe.
