Organizational Context
The Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), founded in 2009, is an independent intergovernmental organization of countries most threatened by climate change, headquartered in Accra, Ghana. It is composed of leaders of 68 governments1 from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, Middle East, and the Pacific, who together represent 1.74 billion people.
Position Purpose
The purpose of the consultancy is to support the liaison and research needs for the development of the Climate Prosperity Plans (CPPs), especially in Francophone member countries.
Reporting Relationships
The CPP Analyst reports to the CVF/V20 Secretariat Leads.
Duties and Responsibilities
The CPP Analyst will focus on supporting the development of the Climate Prosperity Plans (CPPs), especially in Francophone member countries, in the following areas:
- Provide in-country support, draft documents and contact relevant institutions and partners as required in the development of the CPPs;
- Support research as well as analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from CPP consultations;
- Prepare drafts of documents including concept notes, briefers, event programs, meeting records etc.;
- Support in establishing and maintaining effective communication channels with relevant stakeholders for the development of the CPPs;
- Liaise with the CPP countries, especially the respective national committees dedicated to CPP development and the CVF-V20 Secretariat;
- Support the CVF-V20 Secretariat to facilitate engagements with the member countries developing the CPPs;
- Monitor and report on the progress, achievements, and challenges of liaison activities to relevant stakeholders;
- Assist in managing and organizing administrative tasks, including document management, data entry, and filing;
- Work alongside CVF-V20 colleagues in national, regional and global engagements;
- Track the development of the Climate Prosperity Plans and assessing their effectiveness in achieving intended goals;
- Perform other research, programmatic, organizational or communications tasks as requested by the supervisor;
- Any other analytical and related assignment with regard to the above activities and CVF-V20 key activities.
All CVF-V20 personnel will be expected to contribute, from time to time, to responsibilities and duties outside of their core functions during specific phases of work where major events and activities demand contributions of all or much of the organization’s personnel. Work during such phases may also be subject to alternative direction and supervision.
Profile
Education/Enrollment Status
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, economics, finance, international relations, and/or development.
Experience
At least 4 years of professional experience
Competencies, Skills & Languages
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Proficiency with online finance platforms an advantage;
- Strong relationship management and organizational skills, including the ability to identify clear objectives, prioritize effectively, and use time efficiently;
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- Experience in development work in sectors such as climate change, forestry, agriculture, energy, water, finance, economics etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of the administrative and political functioning of multilateral institutions;
- Ability to write reports and produce briefing materials for high-level officials;
- Experience with communications, especially online: web and social media;
- Aptitude for working according to specific guidance of senior staff and experts, and meticulous attention to detail;
- Ability to multitask, to work seamlessly with colleagues and counterparts from a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds and to work effectively within interdisciplinary and intercultural teams;
