11:00am-11:30am Tuesday 10 December 2019 – Room Chiloe, Hall 10, IFEMA Madrid
UNFCCC COP25, Madrid, Spain
On 7 December 2019, as Chair of the Climate Vulnerable Forum, President Hilda Heine of the Republic of the Marshall Islands launched a plea from Majuro in the North Pacific, for countries at COP25 to follow the lead of vulnerable countries in committing to ambition in 2020. The #MAD4surival event will showcase the breadth of support of countries committed to strengthened climate action efforts or NDCs in 2020, and highlight the degree to which the rights and very survival of nations depend on new efforts and NDCs from all countries by next year. Asking: Where do you stand?
FOCUS
- Why vulnerable countries are leading with ambition for 2020 and why other countries and groups stand with them as momentum gains for the Climate Ambition Alliance at COP25
- Why the Paris Agreement and it’s 1.5 degrees Celsius goal, and the survival of nations, depend on new ambition and all countries enhancing NDCs in 2020
- What #MAD4suvival is about and why it is asking others where they stand on new 2020 ambition – and why the Madrid COP counts for the survival of the most vulnerable
