Forging a CVF COP26 Climate Emergency Pact at COP26

The CVF Leaders’ Dialogue – High-Level Meeting – entitled “Forging a CVF COP26 Climate” will take place on the 2nd of  November 2021 at 16:15 – 18:15 (Meeting Room 4, Area F – Ground Floor, Blue Zone). Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh will host the CVF Leaders’ Dialogue during the World Leaders Summit at COP26 in Glasgow, as the Bangladesh Presidency of the CVF.The first global High-Level Meeting of the CVF aims to articulate the global priorities of nations most threatened by the climate emergency, to galvanize the programs and partnerships of the CVF with the COP26 Presidency and key leaders, and to leverage and promote utmost ambition in climate action and the outcomes of the COP26 in favour of the CVF.

Shaped by the outcomes of each of the four 2021 CVF Regional Dialogues held at Ministerial level in Asia, Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean followed by the global Senior Officials Meeting held under the Chairmanship of Bangladesh, the CVF High-Level Leaders’ Meeting at COP26 will be the supreme proceeding of the Forum during Bangladesh Presidency. The CVF Heads of State/Government attending COP26, and where not possible joining virtually, together with CVF leaders from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Pacific, and partner states’ leaders and heads of organizations have been invited to join.The meeting will consider the entire work of the Forum and deliver a “Dhaka-Glasgow Declaration of the CVF”, articulating the interests, efforts and expectations of the members from COP26 and beyond. It will, moreover, cover the full spectrum of the CVF’s fields of activity from national implementation priorities and internal CVF business. Notably, the CVF Leaders’ Dialogue at COP26 will also consider new membership nominations, building on the interest of the numerous observers participating in preceding CVF sessions throughout 2021.
