CVF Forum of Vulnerable Nations
(Pre-COP, 4 October – 12:45 – 14:00 Kinshasa time)
Ghana, as Chair of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), is convening a Forum of Vulnerable Nations, also serving as the CVF’s High Level Meeting on 4th October, 2022 in the margins of the Pre-COP to be held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The aim of this Forum is to adopt the “Accra-Kinshasa Communiqué of the CVF”, providing our vulnerable nations with a powerful platform to convey our collective demands and proposals for COP27 while advancing CVF priorities. Against the backdrop of the Sixth IPCC Assessment Report’s confirmation that the world will warm to 1.5 °C by 2030 with certain impacts, such as extreme heat spells, set to nearly double by then, our very survival has never been so threatened.
Shaped by the outcomes of each of the four 2022 CVF Regional Consultations held in Asia, Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean followed by the global Senior Officials Meeting during 27 September 2021, held under Ghana’s Chairmanship, the CVF High Level Leaders’ Meeting at the Pre-COP27 will be the supreme proceeding of the Forum during Ghana’s Presidency.
At the event, CVF members will, moreover, highlight all they aim to achieve with their national climate prosperity plans, to drive investment into ambitious adaptation, nature-based and renewable energy efforts on the ground across the member nations.
